The Sirion is Daihatsu’s entry in the sub-compact segment, packed with features and space. It received a minor facelift for the 2008 model year, along with a bigger 1.5-litre engine. The little Sirion offers a generous amount of space for the front passengers, including a fair bit of room between the driver seat and the front passenger seat. Rear passengers aren’t so lucky, but they still get reasonable amounts of leg space between front and rear seats. The rear doors open wide to an angle of around 80 degrees, allowing easy entry and exit, and the tailgate eases handling of large luggage. There is a full 630 litres of luggage space with two people on board and the rear seats folded down. With five on board, it still has 225 litres. The top of the back door has decent head clearance and a pull handle also makes it easy to close the door. A luggage room lamp adds convenience, along with the CD/AM/FM Radio, power windows, central locking, front airbags, cup holders in the doors and the centre console, and split rear seats that are 60:40 foldable. It is powered by a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder motor, the Sirion shifts gears using a 4-speed automatic, as the manual is not offered here. 14-inch steel wheels are standard, while alloys are optional, among other things. Standard safety features include front driver & passenger airbags, ABS and EBD.
