Kia Cerato 2012 Overview
The Kia Cerato gets a complete makeover, virtually lifting up the Korean compact to within striking distance of the Japanese favourites. However, Kia is once again undermining their own cars in this region with poor marketing and decontented GCC-spec models. It will initially be available with a 1.6-litre with 4-speed automatic. A manual gearbox might also be available on special-order. In 2011, all models got a 6-speed automatic. The interior feature in the Cerato that Kia is proud of seems to be a new “super vision” LCD cluster with reddish lighting with warning-message and trip-computer functionality. at the bottom of the cluster. Also available is a basic four-speaker audio system, with the option of six-speaker system that adds tweeters, plus a choice of three radio/CD players and the option of MP3 and iPod connectivity. Standard are power windows, electric mirrors, 15-inch wheels with hubcaps, cloth upholstery and central locking. Other available features in higher models include 17-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry with starter button, automatic a/c, some chrome exterior trim, “super vision” gauge cluster, fog lamps, sunroof, leather steering wheel with audio controls, rear parking sensors, aluminium pedals and automatic headlights. Safety is being downplayed again, as the basic Cerato comes with a single driver’s airbag. The higher model gets ABS, active headrests and rear disc brakes instead of drums. Side-curtain airbags and stability control, though not initially available, became standard on the top-spec model later.
