Nissan Maxima 2016 Overview
An all-new Nissan Maxima came out in 2016, featuring the company’s “V-Motion” front end, boomerang lights and floating roof look. The new chassis is lighter and more rigid than the previous generation. The American-built front-wheel-drive midsizer aims to be a budget ‘sports’ sedan, although betrayed by its drivetrain layout. It is powered by the same 3.5-litre V6 as the previous model but updated with 60% new parts. The engine is mated to a CVT transmission with redundant paddle shifters. Inside, the Maxima gets a flat-bottomed steering wheel, Alcantara accents and a centre console that is angled 7-degrees toward the driver. It also gets 7-inch Advanced Drive Assist Display in the instrument cluster that can be paired with an optional 8-inch screen with multi-touch control. Other options include HID headlights, 18-inch or 19-inch wheels, panoramic glass roof, cloth or leather upholstery and more. All come standard with ABS, front airbags, side-curtain airbags and stability control, with options such as blind-spot monitoring, around-view parking cameras and adaptive cruise control with auto-braking. Equipment packages between trim levels change slightly, depending on market.
