BMW’s American-built 4×4 has been completely updated for the 2011 model year, and comes in three models in this region, namely the xDrive35i with a turbocharged 3.0-litre 6-cylinder engine, and the xDrive50i with a turbocharged 4.4-litre V8. The non-M models now have an 8-speed automatic. The X5 has all-wheel-drive without low-range gearing, but does come with ABS and traction control. The X5 offers optional 7-passenger seating. The list of optional equipment now includes features such as 18-inch to 20-inch alloy wheels, roof rails and panoramic moonroof, optional iPod / USB adapter interface, Active Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Lane Departure Warning, Active Steering, running boards, Head-Up Display, 4-zone automatic climate control, rear seat entertainment system, side-view cameras, top-view camera, Nappa leather seats, leather-covered dashboard, full keyless entry, and smartphone integration. The M Sport package includes 20-inch wheels with performance tyres, Adaptive Drive system, aluminium roof rails, M door sill plates, M driver footrest, M steering wheel and M aerodynamic enhancements.
